AI Use Policy for Coulee Region Communications LLC 

 

Coulee Region Communications LLC (CRW) and its publications of Coulee Region Women, Coulee Region Living, and the Coulee Region Women Business Resource Directory are committed to protecting the arts of writing, photographing, and storytelling. We (CRW) prohibit the use of AI-generated content in our publications. We do not permit our writers or editors to use AI for creative purposes. To the highest extent possible, all of our copy and content is generated and edited by real humans across every page of our publication, including editorial stories, images and advertisements. Neither intellectual property of CRW nor copy provided by our advertisers and/or writers may be uploaded to AI for any purpose.

For our writers: 

 

Artificial intelligence (e.g. ChatGPT, CoPilot, GROK, Meta AI, etc.) may be used in editorial content development ONLY for general research prior to interviews with local sources. ALL information found through AI research should be independently verified by the writer.

AI is NOT to be used to record/transcribe interviews, organize information, write, or edit the final story or any accompanying materials. This prevents our material from being shared with third-party AI agents and maintains the privacy and authenticity values we hold true.

All photography should be original photos from either professional photographers or individual story sources. AI-altered photographs will not be accepted to use as contributed photographs with stories.

If writers question whether their intended use of AI follows these guidelines, please reach out to the editor for clarification at editor@crwmagazine.com.

1. Record or transcribe interviews

2. Organize information from interviews and outlines

3. Write any part of stories

4. Edit any parts of stories

5. Generate any accompanying materials, such as images, recipes, etc. 

 

For our advertisers: 

 

Ideas for advertisements may be generated by AI, but all assets (images, logos, etc.) and final design must be created by a staff CRW designer or an in-house business designer, but above all, by a real human. This includes photography and images for backgrounds of ads. We have access to stock images to meet your needs at no extra cost to you. Ad design is free with purchase of your ads; please utilize it if needed.

This matters to your business because the public and our readers are savvy to AI use. They can identify and will dismiss AI-generated content. We ask that you refrain from AI use to ensure we maintain the quality of our publications; honor our commitment to providing high-quality, authentic stories of women in our area; and protect the reputation of your business. You are committed to craftsmanship in your endeavors, and so are we. We are here to assist you in maintaining our shared integrity.

Prohibited uses: 

1. Creating ads to run (including but not limited to: design layout, images, aspect ratio, etc.) 

2. Uploading proofs from CRW to AI to ask for feedback

Creating images and assets to use in advertisements designed by CRW staff
